A warm welcome to this blog post my fellow travelers on the journey of faith!
Today, let’s dive into the wonderful pursuit of deepening our relationship with God and what it ought to look like
I however write this not as a strict guideline but to give you some form of knowledge of what a typical Christian relationship may look like.
Whether you’re starting out or seeking to reignite that connection, these steps can help you cultivate a meaningful and fulfilling spiritual life also bear in mind that each relationship with God is unique and special in it’s on right
And every individual should never compare their journey with anyone as mostly there is no need and also
it is important to remember that God does not love us differently but uniquely, each child he cares for and attends to perfectly and incomparably but the enemy in his own ways will tries to insert the spirit of comparison amongst the human race.
So, as you start of strengthen your relationship with God be open to His ways and your main focus should mostly be in his ways and not the ways of the world.
1. Start with Intention Like any worthwhile Endeavor, building a relationship with God begins with intentionality it may start out small but remember this journey is a marathon and not a sprint
remember it is choice to follow Jesus and not the ways of the world as Jesus would never force anyone into His kingdom hence giving us all free will.
You may do that by setting aside time each day for prayer, reflection, and reading scriptures or spiritual texts that resonate with you and those that you feel will help you cultivate your relationship with God in the season that you’re in.
It doesn’t have to be hours; even a few minutes dedicated to this purpose can yield profound results and God is doesn’t not measure time but how committed you are to Him with the time that you give Him and He will love you regardless.
2. Embrace Authenticity God knows your heart better than anyone else, so embrace authenticity in your relationship and don’t shy away from embracing your true self in His presence.
Share your joys, fears, doubts, and hopes openly in prayer and make it conversational if you must as He is open to you in which ever form you decide to come to Him in.
Be real with God; He welcomes your genuine self and meets you where you are and not where you pretend to be as He has openly invited us to cast all our burdens onto Him.
3. Cultivate Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for spiritual growth as at breeds humility in your heart. Take time daily to count your blessings and thank God for His presence in your life as many don’t know what it’s like.
Recognizing His goodness in both big and small things foster a deeper sense of connection and trust and develop a knowing that regardless of the good or bad days, he is still a faithful God.
4. Seek Guidance Don’t hesitate to seek guidance from spiritual mentors, pastors, or friends who can offer wisdom and support on your journey as this Christian journey was never meant to be done alone
There is so much growth that comes from being in a community of believers who may be wiser in some areas as they will hold you accountable.
Their insights and prayers can provide clarity and encouragement when you face challenges or uncertainties and make you feel less lonely in times of need and indeed celebrate with you in times of joy.
5. Practice Humility opens our hearts to receive God’s grace. Acknowledge your dependence on Him and surrender your will to His divine plan as you are only but a finite being who can’t do it all by yourself
Even more so when you are at the mountain top as you can easily get lost in the applause of man and forget the source of all your blessings.
Trust that He knows what’s best for you and is guiding you, even in times of difficulty only He knows how to strengthen your character and mature you to into His perfection.
6. Serve Others Jesus taught us to love and serve others as we love ourselves. Engaging in acts of kindness, charity, and compassion not only reflects God’s love to those around us but also strengthens our connection with Him.
As believers we ought to be the representation of God’s heart towards others, living the way Christ lived and having grace for others as He also gives us grace daily.
No one is perfect, so, by having a heart of compassion, it is easy to draw people into God’s kingdom as people are battling life’s challenges and to have a feel of a Christian heart.
7. Stay Consistent Consistency is key in any relationship and so this should not exclude a relationship with God as more than anything it is what He seeks from us.
Even when you don’t feel particularly close to God, continue to pray, read scripture, and seek His presence as all relationship is perfect, we are having ups and downs but showing up and being commitment strengthens it.
Trust that your efforts are noticed and that God is drawing near to you as you draw near to Him and in due season, you will reap the benefits of your efforts.
But please note that it’s not our efforts that bring about the blessings as our Christian isn’t merited by works but believing in Jesus and choosing to live in His ways.
8. Embrace Silence In the hustle and bustle of daily life, carve out moments of silence to listen to God’s voice as seeking to many voices for direction can really cause stress and burn out in someone’s life.
Whether through meditation, nature walks, or simply sitting in quiet reflection, create space for God to speak to your heart and learn to distinguish His voice from the voice of the enemy and during this time
Learn and master the ways that God talks to you as this will help you build even a stronger relationship with Him.
9. Learn and Grow Stay curious and continue to learn about your faith and ever think you know enough as there’s always ways to grow in Christ.
delve deeper into scripture, and reflect on how God is working in your life as each season comes with new lessons to learn and new challenges to grow and overcome through Christ who gives us strength.
Growth in knowledge often leads to growth in intimacy with God and you learn who He be for the broken hearted.
10. Trust His Timing Lastly, trust that God’s timing is perfect. Some seasons may feel closer or farther from Him as we are only but finite beings who serve an infinite so sometimes
We might have all the understanding of His ways, but rest assured that He is always with you, working for your good and He has your best interest at heart.
Once again, Remember, strengthening your relationship with God is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the process at all times, cherish the moments of connection with Him and trust that God is walking beside you every step of the way regardless of how it may feel sometimes.
May your faith grow deeper, your heart become more aligned with His as you leave behind the ways of the world, and your life be filled with His abundant grace and love as you learn to have heart of service to others and Help them see them the way Christ sees them daily.
Keep seeking, keep believing, and keep trusting in His unfailing presence. You’re on a beautiful journey of faith, embrace it with courage and hope
