In a world where trends move faster than truth, a seemingly harmless toy is capturing global attention, and perhaps, opening spiritual doors that many are unaware of. It’s called the Labubu doll.
At first glance, Labubu looks like a cute, quirky collectible. But for many Christians and spiritually discerning individuals, this toy isn’t just another trend, it’s a red flag, and perhaps, even a tool of deception.
Let’s talk about what Labubu is, why people are buying it, the disturbing stories surrounding it, and, most importantly, why Christians need to take this seriously.
What Is the Labubu Doll?
Labubu is part of a designer toy series called “The Monsters,” created by Chinese artist Kasing Lung and distributed by Pop Mart. These toys come in small boxes, often marketed as blind collectibles, meaning you don’t know which one you’re getting until you open it. They’re stylized to look playful, but many of the designs feature eerie smiles, sharp teeth, wild eyes, and animal-like or demon-like features.
While it’s being embraced as a fashion accessory, used as charms on handbags and flaunted by influencers on social media, many are noticing the dark, unsettling energy the doll seems to carry. It doesn’t help that fans often describe Labubu as a source of “good luck,” “good energy,” or “spiritual balance.”
But is it really?
A Growing Number of Strange Testimonies
Social media is full of personal stories from people who say they experienced strange things after purchasing or displaying a Labubu doll in their homes. Some of these testimonies include:
- Nightmares and sleep paralysis beginning the night the doll arrived
- Pets falling ill or acting fearful near the doll
- Family arguments and emotional turmoil following its presence
- Electronic disturbances, flickering lights, and cold spots in rooms
- The feeling of being watched or a heavy presence in the home
Even non-religious people are burning their dolls, claiming they feel cursed. One TikTok user said she woke up and the doll had moved closer to her bed on its own. Others say their relationships broke down shortly after getting one, or that they just couldn’t find peace with it in the house.
Some might dismiss these stories as coincidence or imagination, but for those of us who understand the spiritual world, we know there are no coincidences when it comes to the schemes of the enemy.
Could Labubu doll Be Linked to Ancient Demonic Symbols?
There’s a growing concern among believers that the Labubu doll strongly resembles the demonic deity Pazuzu, a figure from ancient Mesopotamian mythology. Pazuzu was believed to bring disease, misfortune, and spiritual oppression. Statues of him were grotesque: wide eyes, sharp teeth, animalistic features, and horns, uncannily similar to Labubu’s form.
Even if Labubu wasn’t intentionally modelled after this ancient demon, the spiritual resemblance is troubling.
The Bible reminds us:
“For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
– 2 Corinthians 11:14
The enemy rarely shows up in ways that are obvious. He uses deception. He packages evil in attractive wrapping. That’s exactly how toys like Labubu slip past our spiritual defences, because they seem cute or harmless.
The Lie of “Good Luck” and “Positive Energy”
One of the most dangerous things about the Labubu doll is the way people talk about it: as if it has the power to bring good fortune, spiritual peace, or protection.
But here’s what the Word of God says:
“Let no one be found among you who… practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens… Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”
– Deuteronomy 18:10-12
The concept of “good luck” tied to an object is a spiritual counterfeit. The enemy always offers a cheap imitation of God’s blessings. And when we allow these objects into our homes, objects that people treat like charms or idols, we are unknowingly opening the door to demonic influence.
Even if you don’t personally believe the doll holds power, others do. And that spiritual agreement can still have consequences.

What Does the Bible Say About Owning Objects Like This?
You might be wondering: “But it’s just a toy. Isn’t that overreacting?”
Let’s look at scripture:
“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.”
– 1 Corinthians 10:21
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”
– Ephesians 5:11
“A number of those who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly.”
– Acts 19:19
In Acts, believers who were once involved in the occult got rid of everything connected to it. They didn’t donate it, store it, or sell it, they burned it.
Why? Because they knew that you can’t carry the presence of God and demonic influence in the same space.
The Danger of Cultural Numbness over Labubu doll
Our culture is obsessed with the supernatural, but often in twisted ways, horror movies, witchcraft aesthetics, astrology, and now, demon-like toys. We’re being desensitized. What once would have made us uncomfortable now seems trendy.
But Jesus said:
“Be as shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.”
– Matthew 10:16
In other words, use discernment. Don’t just accept every cultural trend. Test it. Examine it. Ask the Holy Spirit, “Is this pleasing to You?”
A Word on the Artist and Intention
Kasing Lung, the creator of Labubu, hasn’t publicly claimed that the toy is based on any specific demon or spiritual entity. But in the kingdom of God, intention doesn’t cancel spiritual impact.
Whether or not he meant for Labubu to have spiritual symbolism, the results speak for themselves. When believers are reporting fear, unease, and darkness associated with something, we should listen.
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God…”
– 1 John 4:1
What Should Christians Do?
If you’ve purchased a Labubu doll, or are considering it because it’s trendy, I encourage you to pause and pray.
Ask the Lord:
- “Is this bringing glory to You?”
- “Is there any spiritual consequence to having this in my home?”
- “Am I inviting confusion, fear, or spiritual unrest?”
If you feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit, don’t ignore it. Get rid of it. Cleanse your home. Pray with authority. Use scriptures like Psalm 91 and Ephesians 6 to war against any spiritual attacks.
And don’t be ashamed to speak out against this trend.
Choose Light Over Darkness
Believers, we are not called to follow the crowd. We are called to follow Christ, who is the Light. And where light shines, darkness must flee.
The Labubu doll may look innocent to some, but to the spiritually alert, it is a distraction, a deception, and possibly even a doorway to darkness. Don’t be fooled by its cute exterior. As Jesus warned us:
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
– Matthew 26:41
Stay awake. Be vigilant. And don’t let the enemy use a toy to enter your home.
