Once in a while, in the quiet moments of my life, when I decide to take a breather from the motions of this world, when the hurried world slows down, and I find myself alone with my thoughts
I often reflect on the profound beauty of waiting upon God, and honestly, at times getting mad at the times that I tried to do things my way, because I thought He was delaying
Forgetting that it’s a journey that transcends time and circumstance, where patience becomes a gentle companion, and faith blossoms like a flower in the spring and trust becomes essential.
God is never going to fail on anyone, once He gives a promise and you are in alignment to His path
He is faithful enough to complete what of He has promised, and giving us the strength that we need in the moment as stated in the book of 2 Thessalonians 3vs3 ESV “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
Waiting upon God is not merely about the passage of time; it’s a sacred invitation to trust in His perfect timing.
It’s in these moments of waiting, that I have discovered the depths of His love and the intricacies of His plan unfolding before me, beautifully unveiled by the giver of all things and I stand observing how He beautifully unfolds them
I come to a realization that, even in my best efforts, I wouldn’t have done a great job working things out the way He does.
I have come to a realization that, there is a certain sweetness in surrendering my desires and ambitions to His will.
It’s a journey of letting go of my own agenda, and embracing His knowing that, His ways are higher and His thoughts are far more expansive than my own, and rightfully so because He knows me better than I know myself.
In the waiting, I have also learned the art of perseverance.
A Christian Walk is one that is about enduring through the uncertainties and challenges, but knowing that each step is guided by His hand.
It’s a reminder that growth often happens in the quiet moments of anticipation, where hope is cultivated and dreams take root.
And above all, there is a profound peace that washes over our soul when we choose to wait upon God. It’s a peace that surpasses understanding, Philippians 4vs7 NIV “And the peace of God , which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Anchoring us in the certainty that, He is always faithful. In the midst of chaos and confusion, His presence is a steady anchor that keeps us grounded.
Waiting upon God has taught me the beauty of humility. It’s an acknowledgment that we are not in control of the things that are supposed to happen, but can wholeheartedly trust in the One who holds all things together.
It’s a surrendering of all fears and anxieties, took me a long time to come to this point as fear always took hold of my existence, but knowing that His strength is made perfect in my weakness, made all things work perfectly for my process.
But perhaps the most beautiful aspect of waiting upon God, is the intimacy it cultivates in our relationship with Him.
It’s in the waiting that we draw closer to His heart, where we learn to listen more attentively to His voice, as He quickly teaches ways to dismiss the voice of the enemy during this period.
It’s a journey of deepening faith and unwavering trust, knowing that He is always working for our good, even when we cannot see it or feel it.
As I look back on my journey of waiting upon God, I am filled with gratitude for all that He has taught me along the way.
The waiting seasons have become cherished chapters in my life story, where His faithfulness has been a constant thread weaving through every moment, and learning that the ways of the world don’t bring effective results the way He does, and the three profound take aways in my journey that I have learnt are:
1. Strengthening Faith and Trust
When we wait upon the Lord, we are demonstrating our faith and trust in His wisdom and sovereignty.
This strengthens our relationship with Him, as we learn to rely on His promises and guidance rather than our own understanding as Proverbs 3 vs 5 in the NIV teaches us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”
It deepens our spiritual roots and anchors us securely in His love in this season, we learn to know the difference between His voice and the voice of the enemy
And we learn the beauty of letting go of all expectations we have in our head, but instead, be expectant of what He has to offer.
2. Receiving God’s Best
God often has plans for us that far exceed our own aspirations. By waiting upon Him, we position ourselves to receive His very best for our lives
Whether it’s in relationships, financial breakthroughs career opportunities, or personal growth you name it.
His blessings are not constrained by human timelines, but are bestowed in His perfect timing and during this time it
He helps us shade away the spirit of comparison as we will learn to understand that, each gift given to us by God is uniquely for us just like it is for others and only
We will be able to understand and nurture it with intended purpose, just like He has trusted us with it.
3. Empowering Others
Waiting upon the Lord cultivates patience, a virtue often overlooked in today’s society. Patience is not merely the ability to wait
But the attitude with which we wait and our heart posture during this time. It involves trusting in God’s timing, which may not align with our immediate desires, but, is always perfect and purposeful.
Our journey of waiting upon the Lord is not just for our own benefit, but also impacts those around us as many stories in the bible have shown us.
Even more so, as others witness our faith and patience, they too can be encouraged to trust in God’s faithfulness.
Our lives become a testament to His grace and provision, inspiring others to seek His presence in their own lives, as I often say this
Sometimes, the thing we desperately want God to give us is not going to be as impactful the time we want it, compared to the time He feels ready for us to receive it
And it is at the point of its manifestation, that we only understand why He made us wait.
I will end with this, if you find yourself in a season of waiting, I encourage you to embrace it wholeheartedly.
Trust in the goodness of God, knowing that He is with you in every step of the journey, even if it doesn’t feel like it sometimes.
Allow patience to shape your character, and hope to anchor your soul.
For in the waiting, there is joy to be found, the joy of knowing that you are held in the palm of His hand, and that, His plans for you are always good and full of hope, compared to the plans that the world has to offer.
In a fast-paced world, where instant gratification often takes precedence, the concept of waiting upon the Lord may seem counterintuitive or even challenging.
However, there are profound and enduring rewards for those who choose to embrace this principle in their lives.
Most importantly, waiting upon the Lord is a transformative spiritual discipline that yields profound long-term rewards.
It is an act of surrender, faith, and obedience that draws us closer to God and aligns us with His purposes, and teaches us to shade away the desires of the world.
As we embrace this principle, we discover that His timing is always perfect, His blessings are abundant, and His faithfulness endures forever.
In a world that values instant results, I will encourage us to choose the path of waiting upon the Lord
A path that leads to lasting fulfillment and eternal rewards as the scripture in Isaiah 40:31, in the ESV reminds us that ,“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Thank you for the great tips on waiting. t seems that in life, we are called to wait. One of the best things I did during a long wait was to serve others.

Thanks for sharing this heartfelt post about waiting on God. “For in the waiting, there is joy to be found, the joy of knowing that you are held in the palm of His hand, and that, His plans for you are always good and full of hope, compared to the plans that the world has to offer.” Waiting can be hard but we must learn to trust that God is in control.
