In this blog post, I’m going to be discussing the foods that make your hair grow, even though these foods that I’m about to list below are for hair growth
I can honestly say they are also for the good of your well- being as well, I must add that eating healthy has a lot more benefits and hair growth just happens to be one of them
In the sense that you lose the unwanted fats off the body, you start to feel less lethargic and helps the body get rid out toxic elements which in turn may result in better skin as well just to mention a few
I must note however that I’m not a health nutritionist, these are just foods that I included in my personal diet and that I have seen not only work for me but with others as well
WATER
First things first increase your water intake because first and foremost the organs in our body need water to function properly, water helps in join lubrication as well as nutrition and oxygen delivery to all parts of the body.
Hair is also an organ that needs nutrition just as much as any other part of the body, and drinking lots of water helps eliminate dryness as it also hydrates the hair therefore making it look more shinny and healthy
Other benefits of hydrated hair are that it reduces dandruff, hair from splitting and freezing.
SWEET POTATOES
Probably my favorite food on the list, the sweet and distinct flavor of sweet potatoes, hardly ever believing each time I take a bite that what I’m putting in my mouth is healthy lol
So good that I choose to have it every chance I get for breakfast. Aside from that, sweet potatoes are rich in vitamin A
One of the most important vitamins for hair growth as it promotes the productions and emission of sebum which in-turn helps to keeps the scalp dandruff free are a result having a very healthy scalp
Sweet potatoes also contain a very high amount of beta carotene which turns into Vitamin A
I must note, for even better results on hair growth please boil or grill them and don’t fry as the oil may suck out most the nutritional benefits.
EGGS
May I just note before I go on any further that is my least favorite out of the foods I will mention
I eat eggs because I have to not because I want to, probably because they contain the most protein out of all the foods mentioned on the list. Protein this the most important nutrient the promotes hair growth
I recently learnt that our hair follicles are made of protein, so it only makes sense that we add a lot of protein to our diet to boost the health of our hair, right?
Eggs also contain very high amounts of biotin another very important nutrient for the hair because it adds volume to the hair therefore making it thick and nice to look at lol.
FATTY FISH
Now is it even a proper meal if one doesn’t drill some fatty fish to accompany their sweet potatoes lol
A rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids which promote hair growth and, in my experience, I have noticed that it tends to give the hair a unique natural shine even before adding my favorite hair oils
Also, a very important source of protein, and also contain B vitamins, selenium which are not only good for the hair but for the body’s well-being also.
AVOCADOES
Why buy the oil when you can just eat the fruit? A fruit so rich in antibacterial and antioxidant flavonoids which kill bad bacteria
In all parts of the body and yes even the hair. We all know bad bacteria weakens our immune system’s function to transport the right amount of nutrients to our body parts which may also result in the thinning and weakening of the hair
Because it will not be getting the right amount of nutrients to help it grow to the best of its ability
Avocados are packed with monosaturated fats which not only boost the healthy glow of the hair but also reduce bad cholesterol in the body.
NUTS/ LEGUMES
My favorite being cashew buts, a great source of zinc, natural fatty acids and B vitamins
Zinc in this case is a mineral that helps cell division in the body including hair follicles as they also require zinc for the process to happen and helps promote healthy hair
A lack of zinc in the boy will cause hair to thin out and easily get damaged. Nuts and legumes are one of the few plant-based sources that have natural fatty acids and zinc, so this is also an excellent source for vegans as well.
BELL PEPPERS /FRUITS
These are an excellent source of vitamin C which is very important for collagen production as scientist have gone on to prove that collagen is essential for strengthening hair follicles
Vitamin C also helps in the proper distribution of iron in the body as is it is important to keep it balanced
Vitamin C also helps with digestion in the body so make sure to have a fruit at least once a day or take some Vitamin C tablets.
SPINACH
My favorite leafy green and thank heavens its packed with health benefits as well
Loaded with folate, vitamin A and C and iron which happens to be an important mineral that is responsible for the distribution of oxygen in the body
Which oxygen is also needed in our heads for healthy circulation of blood which is good for hair growth
Without efficient iron in our body, it can lead to anemia as there will not be enough blood circulation in the body which leads to hair loss
Again, spinach is one of the very few plant-based sources of iron so its good for the non-meat eaters out there
SEEDS
What’s a favorite green juice without some flaxseeds added to the mix, right? Seeds being an excellent source of vitamin E, Zinc and selenium
Also rich in antioxidants that protect our body from free radical damage as well as keep those bones healthy besides being good for hair growth.
Although this blog post was about hair growth, I would encourage you to develop a healthy lifestyle for your well-being
