One of the most important gifts that anyone will ever receive from a follow human being is the ability to see them the way Christ sees them.
As a church, we are gifted the opportunity to serve and show love to one another without suffering any loss.
Our first introduction to the kingdom of God most times is through other people, mine included
And that was the main purpose of God putting us on this earth to spread his gospel. The beauty about a Christian lifestyle is that it was never meant to be experienced alone; it is so much easier as believers to experience the goodness of God together.
The bible has many scriptures that talk about the importance of friendship.
Jesus himself had a group of friends to set an example of the importance of community. While technically He didn’t need them
He came to set an example on how to live as believers and to show us that in order for purpose to happen we need a community with different skills to do so.
In romans 12v 4-5 we are told on how each individual has a different function in the body of Christ.
No function is ever too small in God’s eyes, we see in the gospels how Jesus chose his apostles with different kinds of backgrounds each with a different kind of gift to bring in order for His mission to be complete.
So, it is important as believers to not look down on others but see each other as great additions to His family that will advance His kingdom.
Compassion for one another is very important. We all come from different walks in life and different challenges to face, it is important for us to have a heart of Jesus when helping each other through the tough times.
Our job is not to put other people in our shoes but to put ourselves in their shoes like Jesus did because it makes it easier for us to know where they are coming from and ask for guidance from the Lord on how to help them.
Each believer has a past that can’t be changed. As we are in community with each other we need embrace each other and not take judgement on how someone behaved or lived before they came to know Jesus.
We must also remember that we too are sinners saved by his grace and we need the grace of God just as much as the next person.
Jesus set an example with the adulterous woman in John 8, while many who were in sin wanted to shame her and stone her to death
Jesus himself with no sin didn’t judge her but rather saw that it was in that time that she needed the hand of God the most.
While we are served by his blood and know the beauty of it, not everyone is willing to experience that for only God knows the real reasons why.
While that shouldn’t stop us from trying to preach to them about the incredible benefits of living in Christ, our approach to it should be that of a meek spirit.
It is very dangerous as believers to look down on unbelievers and preach to them in a way which may make them feel that we are better than them.
That in its self will never let anyone want to come to Christ; rather, it is important for us to tell them about the love of Christ and not the dos and don’ts of Christianity.
Remember it’s the love of Jesus that saves us all from our sins.
Sharing of information is very important as a community. God gave each believer a different gift with the purpose of sharing it with others.
As believers we are supposed to live as Christ lived, to serve others. The gifts given to us are to expose God’s kingdom to others, from prophesy to worship to preaching and so on.
If we keep these gifts to ourselves, we are defeating the whole purpose of the mission of Christianity.
They are many other ways community should live in accordance to God’s will. Whatever God has placed in our heart to do in order to advance His kingdom keeping in mind that it’s not about us, but in order to bring glory to Him.
Reward comes from God and it’s vital to remember that, many are men that think applause of men means they are truly advancing in life or material possessions means God is truly in what they are doing, don’t get me wrong they are material blessings that come with living for God, but the heart posture on why you are doing what you do really matters.
A wise believer knows that they are on earth to be a vessel in which God intends to use them.
Accepting to be a living sacrifice to the kingdom of God and the mission He set to fulfill on this earth
Which means as Christ would come and offer a touch or help in someone’s life, we ought to do the same, this does not only mean through material things
Remember, drawing someone to Christ is far much better than offering them material things
In Christ, is where fruitfulness comes from, obtaining wisdom in the things of God will help one navigate their life and that’s why it’s important to stay rooted in God’s word and His presence as sharing the gospel will only be productive as one is connected to the source.
You will then begin to view people and circumstances the way Jesus would see them and have a determined heart to make sure many people experience the presence of God and know God for who He really is.
And lastly, learn to find joy in everything, the Joy of the Lord gives you strength to want to commune with people and live joyfully with them as well as find joy in tough seasons with them.
The world is full of trails and tribulations, it’s easier to walk this journey knowing that you have like-minded individuals who hold the same values as you and want to see you do well and live the life that God intended for you to live.
There is power in community, the devil likes to make things seem like one has the power to do things on their own or they are better than others, when in reality, no one is better but unique, we all have a specific part to play in the kingdom of God
By building each other up and recognizing each one’s different abilities, we can really find peace in each other as well as comfortability to know that Christ cares for each and everyone one of us and there is no need to compete with each other as we are all uniquely chosen by God.
